Trust

Trust, the moderator of sensory responses to stimulai on the basis of prior learnings, is a fundamental attribute of every living species distinguishing it from inanimate matter incapable of learning from situations they have flown into. For example, a diamond blade will cut the stone at every turn, the stone is incapable of learning from the previous cut and grow hyde, while a human will learn not to put his finger near the wheel even from the experience of another human loosing his finger by the spinning wheel; trust plays in so many layers, starting from the skin tissue to receipt of pain signals by the brain and so on -for now its suffice to think about the human’s ability to trust his finger can not be dissimilar to that of the other and the trust that the diamond blade is likely to turn the same way it did previously.

To me machines, including logical-computing machines such as lap tops, embedded devices, smartphones etc are inanimate entities; at best they can be designed to simulate sensory responses to stimuli a living species could potentially experience, or designed to simulated provisioning of responses a living species may have provided on the basis of their learning. Inferred is my understanding that whatever machine learning is it is not what would constitute learnings by a living species. To me, the concept of trust is thus irrelevant while talking about autonomous decision making solutions incorporating machine learning. I’d much rather design and validate a solution based on my own learnings or that of other humans for autonomous decision making needs, particularly where there is potential for incurring adverse human consequences.
